The Beaches of Guanacaste: Most of the tourists that visit Costa Rica travel to the Provence of Guanacaste. Most of those go to the beach, and for good reason. Guanacaste offers some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. This province is located on the North Pacific side of the country.

It has a small international airport located in Liberia, so you may be able to get a direct flight to this Provence. (LAX has direct flights available) Guanacaste's main roads are actually in great shape.

It is very easy to navigate this province and there are so many great activities. Sunbathing, Dinning, Horseback Riding, Fishing, Diving, Surfing, ATV and Jungle Tours are all available at your pleasure.

Some of my personal favorites include Playa Grande, Playa Negra, Playa Flamingo, and Playa Ocotal.

Lake Arenal: Lake Arenal is located in the Northern Part of the Country, in the Provinces of Guanacaste and Alajuela. It is the largest lake in the country and has a beautiful volcano towering over it, which make for some amazing views. The surrounding lake area is lush tropical forest and holds many activities. 

Canopy tours are amazing here. There is no better way to see the jungle's canopy which holds much beauty unseen from the forest floor. Freshwater fishing, horseback riding, dinning, Volcano tours, and Jungle tours are also popular activates in this area. With great roads directly to the lake, you don't want to miss it.

Puerto Viejo: Located in the Provence of Limon, Puerto Viejo sits on the coast of the Caribbean Sea. This area of Costa Rica offers a completely different feel.

The Caribbean influence can be see and felt everywhere from the food to the look of the buildings. It offers a very bio-divers rainforest and stunning blue waters. With the relaxed Caribbean atmosphere, Puerto Viejo is a top destination for vacationers.
